Temple Cycles pop-up shop opens in Old City

By Theo Watt  Friday Jul 17, 2015

A pop-up shop specialising in handmade and custom bikes has opened its doors on St Nicholas Street in Bristol’s Old City.

Temple Cycles hopes to give people the chance to trial and experience their range of high-quality frames up close.

The fortnight-long venture is the idea of Matt Mears, 24, who plans to build on his company’s reputation and meet other cyclists from across the city.

“It’s really important people to come and test out the bikes and see them up-close,” said Matt, who founded the buisness while studying at Bristol University.

“One of the ethoses of the company is to really listen to what the customers want and gauge their feedback.”

Prices for complete Temple Cycles bikes range from £500 to £1500, with bespoke frames and a wide range of accessories also available.

Matt, who has been building made-to-order bikes for eight years, also encouraged riders of all abilities to come along to the store from professionals to novices.

“All sorts of cyclists are welcome to come, if you know nothing about bikes that’s fine,” he explained. “I’ll be able to offer you advice about anything.”

Temple Cycles will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30am – 7:30pm at 31 St Nicholas Street, formerly Plenty grocery shop. For more information, visit www.templecycles.co.uk.
