Wendy Calder

By Made In Bristol  Thursday Oct 25, 2018

Ceramicist Wendy Calder uses the natural tones of red and white earthenware clay to create her functional ceramics.  The smooth pottery surface provides the perfect background for Wendy’s delicate botanical images produced by monoprint and scraffito decorating techniques.

From sketchbook to finished ceramics by Wendy Calder. Prices: Vase £32; mug £18; red earthenware jug £28; espresso cup, sold as a pair, £28.

Wendy’s illustrations are drawn straight from her garden which is full of alliums and agapanthus. She hand-throws pottery on her wheel which she describes as both mesmerising and therapeutic.  Wendy also teaches pottery classes from her studio in St.Anne’s.

Wendy says: “My favourite thing about being a ceramicist is that I’m lucky enough to teach and share my love and knowledge.”
