A visitor’s guide to the Isle of Wight
There are so many things to do on the Isle of Wight, no matter who you are, or what you enjoy doing. You could even find a new hobby that you can take away from the island. With a range of beaches to explore, and more, you will never face any boredom. You can experience the best holidays on the Isle of Wight, with help from this quick guide on five things to do here – you’ll never want to leave!
Are you ready to take on an adventure?
Take on the trees, and find yourself a new hobby on your next spring holiday. Tree climbing is a skill that is so overlooked, but it’s such a beneficial thing to do. It helps with your physical and mental health, just by being at one with nature, and leaving your electronic devices behind for just an afternoon. Giving yourself that self-confidence to climb will make you feel great, but there is never any pressure to climb right to the top – take it at your own pace.
Visit a sanctuary
If you’d rather stay grounded on your holiday, visit an animal that will tackle the trees instead. Monkey Haven not only houses these tree climbers, but they also have meerkats and reptiles – many being rescued from tragic situations, or from being neglected. Learn about these beautiful animals, and see all of their different personalities in action – which one will be your favourite?
Explore the beaches
It wouldn’t be an Isle of Wight holiday without visiting at least one of their beautiful beaches. One of the most picturesque beaches on the island is Alum Bay Beach. It is framed by the infamous chalk stacks, known as The Needles, with its iconic coloured sands, that range from 21 different shades. Relax on the sand or take a dip – you have to see it in person to get a real feel for its beauty!
Go on a historical journey
While you’re holidaying on the island, why not learn more about its heritage, and go home with some newfound facts. Travel to grand castles, like Carisbrooke, that was there during the Norman times. It even served as a royal prison to Charles I, but now you can enjoy it at a birds-eye view and marvel at the historical film you’ll be shown.
For dinosaur lovers, visit Dinosaur Island, where you can see actual dinosaur remains – it’s even been named as one of Europe’s finest sites for these remains!
And relax
If all of this exploring round the island has tired you out, or you’re a fan of a relaxation holiday, the Isle of Wight can also provide you with all of that! Even just laying on one of the sandy beaches could provide you with enough relaxation, but if you want to take that a step further, there are a variety of spas on the island that offer tempting treatments, so you can reach a level of full relaxation. For mind relaxation, why not try a gentle yoga session on the beach – a new scenery, where you can reach peace, while taking in the gorgeous views.
