Berkeley Suites restore glamour to crescent

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Aug 4, 2015

Going on holiday in your own city is a surreal experience.

Packing a suitcase for an overnight stay, we could have been going anywhere. As it was, all we had to do was to catch a number 8 bus to begin our luxury getaway in BS8.

The Berkeley Suites are within a grade II* listed Georgian townhouse on Berkeley Crescent overlooking Clifton Triangle that had been derelict for six years.

Each floor of the five-storey house has been refurbished and now forms part of the Berkeley Square Hotel

Our suite was made up of a lounge area with a kitchen craftily concealed in a large chest of drawers, and an ensuite bedroom with the bathroom the other side of a glass partition with an old fireplace still in place.

The building’s original period features blend well with some funky modern touches. Watching CBeebies on a giant projector screen was a dream come true for our four-year-old Mersina.

If we needed something like a light bulb changed, a quick call to the hotel reception meant that they could be with us right away.

Guests staying at the Berkeley Suites also get complimentary membership to the Square Club for the duration of the stay and access to the nearby Nuffield gym and swimming pool.

This is luxury living with all the comforts of a hotel but in your own private flat, offering all the services associated with staying in one of Bristol’s best hotels but also providing the privacy of a serviced apartment.

And all just a short bus ride away.

Rates at the Berkeley Suites are available for £161 per night. For more information, visit www.berkeleysuites.co.uk.
