A day of discovery at Colston Hall
Historic music venue Colston Hall announced plans for major transformation back in 2014. The cultural hub recently turned 150 years old and has gone more 60 of those without any proper refurbishment.
To provide an opportunity for the Bristol public to ask questions and have their say about the upcoming changes, the historic venue is hosting a Discovery Day on Saturday.
Attendees of the event can learn about the history of the Colston Hall in a talk from archivist Louise Anderson. As well as learning about the past, there will be the chance to have a say in the hall’s future.
is needed now More than ever
Talks and interactive panels will give more information about the redevelopment project for the venue, including chief executive of Bristol Music Trust, Louise Mitchell, in conversation with Bristol24/7 Editor Martin Booth.
As well as the information about the Colston Hall transformation, there will be music workshops available to take part in throughout the day. Guests include sound artist and beatboxer Jason Singh, who will be leading two workshops and performing later on in the day.
Children can participate in a ‘pineapple jam’ workshop, playing instruments made of pineapples. Families can also have a go on steel pans and learn more about opportunities for children to get involved in music education in Bristol.
Discovery Day at the Colston Hall takes place on Saturday, March 16 from midday to 6pm. Entry is free. For more information, visit www.colstonhall.org/shows/discovery-day
