15 places to watch Rugby World Cup in Bristol

1. Sports Bar & Grill Ashton Gate, Ashton

Ashton Gate Stadium, the new home ground of Bristol Rugby, will be showing the World Cup games on the UK’s biggest indoor big screen at its Sports Bar & Grill. Reserve a table and you will also be provided with a two-course meal by Michelin-starred chef Josh Eggleton. Tickets need to be pre-booked.

2. The Beehive Wellington Hill, Horfield

Not only does the Beehave boast of a 50in HD Screen, but the pub is also going to special efforts by providing themed snacks and food to match the teams of the day.

3. Millennium Square Harbourside, Centre

The big screen in the Millennium Square will be showing all the big Rugby World Cup games this Autumn, except from four days between the September 22-26. Deckchairs will be provided, and you are welcome to bring your own picnic, or use the At-Bristol Café.

4. Racks Bar and Kitchen St Paul’s Road, Clifton

5. Walkabout Corn Street, Centre

Aussie-themed bar Walkabout, which underwent a major upgrade last year, will be showing the world cup games through September and October. With 13 plasma TVs and one big screen, you shouldn’t miss a second.

6. Lord Raglan Nag’s Head Hill, St George

Famous for their unflinching support to all things England in sport, the Lord Raglan is a small pub with a sports TV and a friendly atmosphere. They are expressing their excitement for the 2015 Rugby World Cup being held in England by changing their traditional pub sign to ‘Lord Rugby’. 

7. The Clifton Wine Bar Richmond Terrace, Clifton

The Clifton Wine Bar has no less than five TVs ready to show all the matches along with surround sound audio to ensure you hear the commentary. Food is served here all day.

8. Old Fish Market Baldwin Street, Centre

A favourite of sports fans for a long time, this venue is particularly fond of Rugby and will be showing all World Cup games throughout September and October.

9. The Black Swan Stoke Lane, Westbury-on-Trym

10. The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer King Street, Centre

Situated on the wonderful cobbled King Street, The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer offers stylish surroundings to watch the Rugby World Cup inside a 17th century building. 

11. Rhubarb Tavern Queen Ann Road, Barton Hill

A classic Barton Hill haunt, this traditional watering hole is a safe bet for local community vibes.

12. The Penny Whiteladies Road, Clifton

 

The Penny, formaerly known as the Penny Farthing, is a beer house near the Clifton Triangle offering the Rugby World Cup alongside a large list of drinks, from beers, ciders and lager, to wines and even barista-style coffee.

13. The Anchor Gloucester Road, Bishopston

14. Steam Crane North Street, Bedminster

The Steam Crane, 10 minutes walk from Ashton Gate Stadium, will be showing all games at this year’s Rugby World Cup, which can be enjoyed alongside their regular evening meals.
