A Beginner’s Guide to Atomizers

By Advertising Feature  Wednesday May 24, 2023

The atomizer is the coil in the vape tank that converts the e-liquid into vapour. Atomizers are part of the rebuildable vape gear.

While it may appear easier to buy than make your vaporizer, some advantages exist. You may customize your vape atomizer by selecting your coil and cotton wool wick.

Selecting your coil might contribute to a more pleasurable vaping experience. Furthermore, the structure will be substantially less expensive than purchasing and maintaining vaping equipment.

How to use an atomizer
Modern atomizers are all constructed and operated in the same manner. You should gather your basic equipment, which should include a coil (or wire) and a wick (typically cotton), and follow the instructions below:

Connect the coil to the atomizer’s build deck. You may need to repeat this process if the atomizer requires more than one coil.

Using an Ohm meter, check the resistance of your coil. You must be continually aware of your device’s limits to avoid accidents.

Next, dry burn your coils to guarantee heating and an actual flame.

Allow it to cool for 15 minutes or until it reaches room temperature. Then, insert your wick (cotton) into your coil.

Ensure the wick tails are in the wicking channels, then trickle your vape juice over your coils to prime your wick.

Allow it to saturate for a few minutes, after which you should start vaping by turning on your atomizer. Begin with modest power levels and gradually increase till you reach your ideal vaping level.

Types of atomizers
If you are new to vaping, you should know that there are many types of atomizers in the market that you can go for. They include:

Rebuildable tank atomizer (RTA)
This type of vape atomizer has a tank to contain the vape juice. It includes a posted deck that is secured with a metal chamber cover. This cap is connected to the chimney, which directs the vapour to the drip tip.

The pressure draws the vape juice from the chamber and up the passages on the deck. You put the soaked wicks in these channels, and the vape juice diffuses through the wick to reach the coils for vaporization.

Rebuildable tank atomizers are less expensive and easier to use due to their versatility in coil builds and huge cloud production.

The sole disadvantage of tank atomizers like these is the regular maintenance required for coil replacement and construction.

Furthermore, if you want to test a new taste, you need to discard the old flavour and clean the tank. Aside from that, these atomizers are a solid choice for anyone looking for a tasty vaping experience.

Rebuildable dripping atomizer (RDA)
You must drip the vape juice over the coils with this vape atomizer. It has a deck and a post. This implies you can link the coils to create a conduit for electricity to go through and heat the coils.

Unlike tank atomizers, this atomizer does not have a tank to contain vape juice. It is dripped straight onto the coil before vaping. A small reservoir, on the other hand, can retain a modest amount of e-liquid (about 1ML).

RDAs have quickly become one of the most popular vape atomizers among experienced vapers.
Its clean and powerful taste output and its massive cloud production have made it excellent for vapers.

Furthermore, their low maintenance and simple management make them inexpensive and enable a personalized vaping experience.

You can be as creative as you like with your coils to achieve the finest vaping experience possible.

While they are one of the best atomizers in the market, they aren’t recommended for beginners. This is because wicking and coil construction are difficult skills to master.

While upkeep is low, the initial investment in purchasing an RDA is high.

Rebuildable dripping tank atomizer (RDTA)
This is a dripper-style vape atomizer. In layman’s terms, an RDTA is a hybrid of an RDA and an RTA.

While it includes a tank to contain the juice, unlike an RDA, you do not have to unscrew the cap and manually drip the vape juice over the cotton. They instead have a feature known as the drip tip or the auto dripper. Simply pressing down causes the juice to drop onto the cotton.

How to maintain your atomizer
Maintaining your vape pen’s atomizer is critical for optimal performance and longevity. Here are some pointers to assist you in caring for your atomizer:

Replace when necessary: Atomizer coils have a limited lifespan and must be replaced at some point. The frequency with which you do the replacement is determined by factors such as usage, e-liquid composition, and personal choice.

A burnt flavour, decreased vapour output, or a visibly worn or discoloured coil indicates that it is time to do the replacement.

When buying a new unit, buy it from a reputable brand such as Dr Dabber.

Clean the atomizer: Cleaning the atomizer coil regularly is critical to preventing residue buildup. E-liquid residue can build up over time, resulting in diminished flavour and vapour output.

Remove the atomizer from the vape pen and thoroughly rinse it with warm water. To remove any obstinate residue, gently scrape the coil with a gentle brush or toothbrush. Allow it to completely dry before reassembling.
Avoid dry hits: Dry hits occur when there is insufficient e-liquid on the coil, resulting in a burnt taste and possible coil damage.

Always keep the atomizer fully saturated with e-liquid to avoid dry hits. Observing a reduction in flavour or vapour production could indicate that the coil needs to be replaced.

Prime the atomizer: When inserting a new atomizer coil, it is critical to prime it properly. To prevent dry hits and coil damage, priming requires soaking the coil with e-liquid before usage.

Before using the vape pen, apply a few drops of e-liquid straight to the exposed cotton wick of the coil and let it soak for a few minutes. This aids in the absorption of the e-liquid by the coil and ensures a smooth vaping experience.

Avoid overheating: Excessive heat might cause atomizer coil damage and limit its lifespan. To minimize overheating, avoid taking long or frequent drags that can cause the coil to overheat.

Additionally, avoid exposing your vape pen to intense heat or direct sunlight since this might cause coil damage.
