Bringing Bristol Together: One Year In Lockdown
On March 23 2020, Bristol came to a halt.
As the first of the spring sunshine started to show, the streets, schools, offices, pubs, cafes, theatres, gyms, stadiums and restaurants that we all love went eerily quiet.
And as the sun continued to shine (and shine and shine), a new life began. Homes became playgrounds and conference centres, parks became gyms and sanctuaries. The internet became our bars, our performance halls, our festivals and our meeting rooms all in one.
is needed now More than ever
All over Bristol, people were adapting and finding joy in new or different pastimes.
Now, as we approach almost a year in lockdown, we’re asking you to show us: what’s got you through?

“This last year has been so hard in so many ways for people,” said Bristol24/7 News Editor and dog walker Ellie Pipe.
“It is definitely the small things, like a walk in the park or a ridiculous team quiz, that have kept me going. That, and sharing stories of the many people across Bristol doing amazing things – big and small.”
Hannah Beatrice, body combat hero and Bristol24/7 Community Manager, explains the thinking behind the campaign: “On the front cover of the magazine every month, under our Bristol24/7 logo, the words ‘Bringing Bristol Together’ appear. That’s what we strive to do.
“So in a year where that has been physically impossible, we decided to share the activities that are keeping us going – from wipe outs and walking to caffeine and hula hoop. Now we’re inviting you to do the same, and we’ll turn your clips into a film so that everyone can come together, even if it’s just for five minutes, to share the moments that are keeping Bristol’s spirits up and making us smile.
“We hope to reach everyone in Bristol – all our readers and members who have continued to support us, and bring some happiness and joy to people.”
