Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2018, day 17: ClimbUp Bristol

By Hugo Gerwat  Sunday Dec 16, 2018

ClimbUp Bristol strives to give young people in the Bristol area the opportunity to learn how to climb, and immerse themselves within the rock climbing community, while also helping to develop their social skills and confidence.

Through climbing, the charity is able to guide young people through troubling periods in life and have provided courses for more than 20 people aged 9-16 since they were founded by climber James Marshall in 2015. ClimbUp  offers mostly one to one tutoring. This means all their focus is spent on developing all the skills climbing can offer.

These skills include learning to trust others, setting and achieving personal goals, working on their self-esteem and building new friendships.
