Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2018, day 22: Baby Bank Network

By Maya Bullough  Friday Dec 21, 2018

Baby Bank Network started in Bristol in 2015 with the aim of fighting child poverty.

The charity does this by donating second-hand baby necessities such as clothes, prams and toys to families who are facing times of financial hardship and may not be able to afford such items themselves.

The process is made even more economical by the charity’s dedication to upcycling and reusing items which otherwise may have been thrown away.

Baby Bank Network hope that, through their work, they can reduce parents’ stress and anxiety, which in turn can only have a positive impact on the wellbeing of their children. This means the charity is not only providing material assistance, but also emotional support to families across Bristol.

The charity’s work has now spread to Aberdeenshire, Exeter and the Isle of Wight.

Baby Bank Network relies on donations of items.

Their Christmas Campaign, which ran on November 10, invited members of the public were to drop off any baby items to their warehouse on Stoke View Road in Fishponds, as well as encouraging bake sales and quiz nights to fundraise for the charity. Donations made and fundraising events go towards purchasing mattresses, bottle teats and pram equipment.
