Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2020, day 17: Paul’s Place
The vision of Paul’s Place is a world that embraces disability and includes everyone, ensuring that all people can live their life to the full.
The Coalpit Heath charity’s mission “is to enhance the lives of physically disabled adults and those with cognitive and sensory impairment, supporting them to live life to the full”.
Paul’s Place through projects and activities that provide social activities that connect people, build friendships, reducing loneliness and isolation; encourage people to develop new skills and achieve independence; and develop opportunities for people to improve their health and wellbeing.
is needed now More than ever
2020 is the 25th anniversary of Paul’s Place, which was founded when a group of friends led by founder Kath Aldom got together to form a club where physically disabled adults could meet to socialise.
Paul’s Place is named after Paul Willmott, who was part of the initial conversations about the group but sadly died just as the club was forming.
Today, ‘Paul’ embodies anyone using the charity, regardless of gender or disability as Paul’s Place is a people-based, disability-led charity and continue to replicate the ethos of the original club.
