Bristol charity advent calendar 2021, day six: LoveWell
On day six of our charity advent, we’re celebrating LoveWell.
The charity was born out of a desire to create supportive pathways into employment for women who have experienced significant trauma through trafficking and exploitation.
Its range of beauty products is handmade by women who have experienced barriers to employment. By running a six-month employability training programme, along with paid work in manufacturing the skincare products, trainees gain skills, as well as the confidence to move forward into alternative employment, support and training.
is needed now More than ever
Trainees follow a tailored, 28-week programme covering topics on confidence, assertiveness, budgeting and many more, before moving onto work-ready skills such as identifying values, strengths and skills, CV writing and mock interviews.
LoveWell hopes to break cycles of poverty and lack of economic independence, which makes women and children most vulnerable.
“I’m learning that I’m capable of doing things when I put my mind to it. Realising this is a good environment. The life skills have been really valuable, the personality types and discovering yourself, getting to grips with who I am as a person has been really valuable,” commented one of the trainees from the course.

“That I’m not hopeless, I am a precious person and it’s not impossible for me to get a job in the near future. I always thought I’d never get a job. I’ve done a lot of work on myself which has gained my confidence from being here.”
