Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2022, Day 1: One25
The first charity that Bristol24/7 is celebrating as part of the charity advent calendar is One25, an organisation that supports some of the city’s most marginalised women.
Based in St Paul’s, One25 meet women who have been traumatised from childhood abuse and violence, leading to life situations where they are “stigmatised, marginalised, locked out of society and face life-controlling issues”.
This charity envisages a world where all women are safe, feel loved and can thrive and for 27 years it has supported women to journey from crisis and trauma to independence.
is needed now More than ever
One25 offer five services:
- Night outreach providing practical support to women who are street sex-working
- Drop-in for a safe space for women to get a hot meal, healthcare and crisis support
- Caseworkers offering specialist one-to-one care, from support in court to finding somewhere safe to live
- Pause works with women in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire who have had two or more children removed from their care
- Peony supports women to continue their recovery in the community, developing their wellbeing and skills.
One25 CEO Jenny Riley said: “Over the last year One25 has supported 234 women. They face multiple challenges and, since the pandemic, their needs have become more complex, making our work more important than ever.
“We are committed to each woman for as long as she needs our help – and with specialist, non-judgemental care we see women taking brave steps towards safety and independence. Last year 134 women were safer from violence and 123 were connected to specialist services.”
Camilla, who has used the charity’s services, added: “I came in off the streets but your energy and work made me cope. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here now.”

From Tuesday until December 6, One25 is running a Christmas fundraiser when donations to the charity can be doubled.
All funds raised during its Big Christmas Give Challenge will support One25’s drop-in service, which is open four days a week and offers a welcoming space where women can get practical support – a hot meal, shower and laundry facilities and medical advice from visiting health professionals.
