Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2023, day 5: Young Bristol
Rooted in the ethos of Young Bristol is the belief that every young person has the right to discover what they are capable of.
Founded in 1928, the charity works to provide community-based youth services and programmes for those between the ages of eight and 25 during out of school hours.
Based in Stockwood, Young Bristol operates in some 16 different communities across the city and has delivered 1,489 sessions in the last year.
is needed now More than ever
Charity bosses say support is needed more than ever as they see increased demand for the services and activities they provide.
Speaking about their work, Lucy Saunders, head of development and fundraising for Young Bristol, says: “Young Bristol is a mission-led, values driven charity, with a focus on supporting young people during their critical out of school hours.
“We are recognised as Bristol’s leading provider of community-based youth services, through our community youth club network based in some of Bristol’s most challenging communities, and a valued provider of outdoor activities, mobile youth services, creative arts, outdoor employment, and informal educational programmes for young people. We urgently need support as we are seeing an increased demand for our services whilst at the same time facing increased running costs.”
