Bristol’s finest immortalised in legendary tea towel
Born from a late night pub discussion between the two founders of Crack Magazine, the Absolute Bristol Legends tea towel immortalises 34 well-known Bristol figures, and is being sold for charity.
In partnership with Christopher Wright of Turbo Island Tees and local charity Caring in Bristol, they hope to raise as much money as possible for the homeless over the Christmas period.
“The idea was to combine really prominent historical Bristolians like Dorothy Brown and Brunel with people who’ve made an amazing difference at more of a local level, like Jeff Knight the Big Issue seller, who’s a ray of sunshine in a lot of people’s lives every morning,” explains Tom Frost, one of the pair behind the idea. “We both grew up in Bristol, so we’re quite familiar with its heritage, and we just tried to give a real breadth of what the city has to offer.”
is needed now More than ever

The Absolute Bristol Legends tea towel was designed by Christopher Wright
The tea towel is certainly fun, with a host of familiar faces recreated in Chris Wright’s distinctive artistic style. “Chris is an amazing local illustrator who’s been in Bristol forever, and we thought these people would suit his style really well,” Tom continues.
Sales of the tea towel will support Caring in Bristol, who work hard to support homeless and vulnerable people all year round. Their aim is to work towards a society where everyone feels welcome in their community, and has a home to go to. Through a series of projects run by dedicated volunteers, the charity provide temporary accommodation for those forced to sleep rough, particularly young people who may be experiencing issues at home.
Over the festive period, the charity will be running Caring at Christmas, a scheme that offers shelter, food and clothing to those who need it from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day. The project relies on the commitment of a huge team of volunteers, and they are appealing for more support this year.

“If this goes really well, it would be great to do it again next year with another round of legends,” Tom says. “The main drive of this is to raise as much money for Caring in Bristol as possible and to help tackle homelessness and raise awareness. I would encourage people to buy a really fun product for a good cause at Christmas.”
The Absolute Bristol Legends tea towel is available from www.absolutebristollegends.com and from various pubs, community buildings and restaurants around the city.
