Fowlers Motorcycles: Young at Heart at 90

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Jan 26, 2016

Bristol’s biggest and brightest motorcycle dealership remains a beacon for bikers by offering the widest choice of two-wheelers to be found anywhere in the UK in a state-of-the-art setting.

Fowlers motorcycle superstore is conveniently located on the Bath Bridge roundabout near Temple Meads mainline station, known locally as The Fowlers Roundabout. Inside the Tardis-like 40,000 square foot air-conditioned interior, you’ll be given a warm welcome from the friendly staff.

There are no fewer than ten brands of new motorcycles and scooters for you to view over three floors, including Aprilia, Gilera, Honda, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, Suzuki, Triumph, Vespa and Yamaha, plus a vast selection of pre-owned bikes. There is even a dedicated off-road centre within the building, showcasing the latest dirt bikes from Honda, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha. From a 50cc Vespa scooter for negotiating the city’s crowded streets, to a 2300cc Triumph Rocket III for continental cruising across Europe, Fowlers offers something for everyone.

Named ‘Best Multi-Franchise Dealer in South West England 2015’ by Motorcycle News, the UK’s best-selling motorcycle publication, Fowlers offers so much more than motorcycles. The large, well-stocked clothing, helmets and accessories department on the ground floor offers big name and budget-priced brands to suit every taste and pocket. For riders who prefer pedal-power to horsepower, there’s a dedicated cycling showroom and workshop on the premises too.

Climb the stairs to Harry’s Café on the second floor (or take the lift if you prefer) for a new perspective on the store, looking down over the rows of bikes, racks of clothing and shelves of helmets, while enjoying a reviving drink or some freshly prepared food.

However, what will make your visit to Fowlers so special is that the business is still owned and run by the family that founded it in 1926. The gallery of vintage photographs will take you back to the original shop selling cycles in the St Paul’s district, before Harry Fowler introduced motorcycles when he joined his parents’ firm in 1927. By 1960, Fowlers was selling the hottest new bikes from leading British manufacturers, Although always forward-looking, Fowlers recognised that riders’ tastes were changing and, within ten years, had introduced Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha to Bristol’s bikers.

In today’s business, each franchise has its own dedicated sales team, who will provide you with helpful advice and support, while you can place your confidence in the vast knowledge and experience of the factory-trained master technicians and technicians in Fowlers’ award-winning workshops.

Almost uniquely, Fowlers offers customers a dedicated Scooter & Commuter department, where Julius, Lyndon and Charlotte will help you to compare a variety of scooters and smaller commuter motorcycles side-by-side. Sales of commuter bikes in 2015 in the UK were the highest for more than 30 years and, with levels of congestion in Bristol even greater than in London, these machines are becoming ever more popular.

Open seven days a week, with ample free parking and just a five minute walk from Temple Meads railway station, Fowlers may be a motorcycle superstore, but it retains the warm and friendly welcome of a high street shop. “It’s a family business and very much the better for it”, as Harry used to say.

Fowlers Motorcycles is at 2-12 Bath Road, Bristol. Tel: 0117 977 0466. For more information visit www.fowlers.co.uk
