‘It’s the people who make the place’ – Wapping Wharf
Bristol’s much-loved harbourside neighbourhood is growing, meaning there’s now the chance to snap up your own home in this flourishing part of the city. But what would life be like living in this unique community? It’s known for its amazing array of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and more – but it’s the people behind this new part of town that really make it shine. Say hi to some of the friendly faces you might meet if you made this community your home:
Hayley Wright at the Mighty Quinns Flower Emporium is Wapping Wharf’s resident florist. Many of the residents already living at Wapping Wharf are regular customers and know her – and her pet dog, Daisy – well. Her favourite thing about Wapping Wharf is the events that happen throughout the year from Chinese New Year festivities to Easter Egg hunts – plus red wine from Corks of course!

Roger Bignell, site manager of CARGO, the popular hub of independent eateries and shops that’s made of converted shipping containers, keeps everything looking ship-shape. He says: “The community is super-friendly; the businesses help each other out, from borrowing last minute ingredients or extra seating from one another on a busy night.”

Eric Sullivan, estates manager, is a familiar face among the Wapping Wharf community, indeed this Christmas eve will mark four years since he started the job. He works hard to keep the residential areas looking pristine and knows each building inside out so is always on hand with advice.

Rosie Morgan at The Bristol Cheesemonger caters to all her customers’ cheese needs! She’s always coming up with new ideas, the latest being a milk vending machine where you’ll be able to buy a glass milk bottle or bring your own to get local, fresh milk on tap – and plastic free. Residents get a free refill bottle too!

Stuart Hatton, the developer of the neighbourhood, whose vision it was to create a community focused on independents, is a regular at Wapping Wharf. In his words, “it’s the people who make the place”. You’ll often find him grabbing a coffee or a bite of lunch in one of the many cafes.
With such a strong community ethos it’s no surprise that Wapping Wharf is so popular with residents and visitors alike. In keeping with the historic dockside location, the next phase of over 250 homes, named Wapping Wharf Living, is currently being built. Many of the one, two and three-bedroom apartments have balconies overlooking the new street scenes or internal garden courtyards. Airy vaulted ceilings and terraces feature in many of the top floor apartments.
Wapping Wharf Living is being developed in a joint venture between Umberslade and Muse Developments.
Homes at Wapping Wharf Living are now for sale, with prices from £255,000. If you’re interested, enquiries can be made to sales@wappingwharfliving.co.uk or by calling 0117 363 7839, or you can register your interest at http://wappingwharfliving.co.uk
