The kids take centre stage in the Great Bristol Family Run
This family friendly event takes place on Sunday 25th September – here’s everything you need to know.
What to expect
The popular Great Bristol Family Run is part of the Great Bristol Run, the South West’s biggest & best running event which also includes a 10k and Half Marathon on the same day. The Family Run is open to entrants above the age of 3 (entrants aged 3-8 must run with a parent) and gives budding running stars a taste of the big event experience.
Expect high fives, encouragement and a buzzing atmosphere throughout as crowds gather to cheer runners around the one mile course. Adults and little ones can run or walk the distance, cross the finish line together and take home a medal and goodie bag.
A good cause and fancy dress
Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity, The Grand Appeal is the Official Partner of the event in 2022. They are dedicated to helping sick children and their families by funding life-saving equipment, family accommodation, specialist staff, and much more.
They will be bringing along Wallace and Gromit to greet and cheer on the runners which will create a great atmosphere from start to finish! Inspired by The Grand Appeal’s annual event, Wallace and Gromit’s Wrong Trousers Day (named after Aardman’s iconic film), this year runners – big and small! – are encouraged to wear their ‘wrong trousers’ for the run. This means digging out some of your weirdest and wackiest legwear (or getting crafty and making your own!) for the big day.
