The UK’s only electric passenger boat returns for summer
Hydrogenesis, owned by Bristol Packet, has undergone a winter refit and is once more prepared for summer parties and events.
The boat is the only emission-free, electric fuel cell passenger boat in the UK.
Launched in 2012 as an experimental craft, the is fuelled by hydrogen extracted from water, with the only emissions pure water.
is needed now More than ever
The alternative to diesel provides a quiet vibration free glide across the water.
Luke Dunstan from Bristol Packet believes that the majority of boats will one day run on electricity and not diesel.
“Hydrogenesis is the blueprint for the next generation of boat,” he told Bristol24/7.
In the case of cars, electric vehicles are readily available, and it is Luke’s hope that in the future, all sea-bound vehicles will run on renewable sources.
Bristol Packet hope to start electrifying their fleet of boats next year in the hope of turning the docks into a diesel-free zone.
