SPACEMAN CAME DOWN: Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield talks about his life in one of only two UK shows. Bristol Hippodrome, 7.30pm.

QUIGLEY: Quigley are back to celebrate the launch of their new single Watch With You. Support comes from Joe Probert and Lady Nade. Louisiana, 7.30pm.

SLAPSTICK FESTIVAL: It’s day one of the Slapstick Festival, with today’s events including a panel discussion looking at the contribution to comedy of Victoria Wood and a screening of Mon Oncle from 1958. Watershed, various times.

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS: Three pieces of new writing, spanning comedy, farce and melodrama and featuring seven professional Bristol-based actors. Alma Tavern Theatre, 8pm.

THE PHILADELPHIA STORY: Celebrate Horfield’s very own Cary Grant’s 113th birthday with a special screening of this classic comedy. Everyman, 6pm.

MARTYN JOSEPH: With comparisons to Bruce Springsteen and John Mayer, Welsh folk singer Martyn Joseph will be performing songs from his latest release, Sanctuary. The Lantern, 8pm.

JORDANIAN STREET ART: Photographs by Alex Sinclair Lack, showcasing the diverse range of street art visible in Jordan. Arts House Cafe.
