Things to do today in Bristol:
MUSIC AT THE COLSTON HALL – The Gloaming encompass both Irish folk tradition with a contemporary, New York music vibe. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets from £26.
ENCOUNTERS SHORT FILM & ANIMATION FESTIVAL – Encounters Day 2 will feature seven themed programmes of short films showing throughout the day at the Watershed. Ticket prices for each are £6/£6.50.
– Writer, broadcaster and filmmaker Paul Mason will be sharing his top film picks at 8.30pm. Tickets £8/£7.50 for concessions.
– A conversation with author and screenwriter David Nicholls will be showcased at 6.15pm, where he will be talking about adapting his books for the screen. (Sold out)
STAND-UP SOLO ACT – Mark Thomson will be performing his theatrical, journalistic, activist stand up, relating to his fascination with the struggle of the community at Wakefield’s Labour Club from 7.15pm. Tickets £16.50.
SISTER ACT – Broadway and West End hit musical comedy will be showing at the Bristol Hippodrome, with Alexandra Burke starring in the 7.30pm showing. A 2.30pm matinee show is also available. Tickets £16.50-£54.50.
HAPPILY… NEVER… AFTER – Bristol’s Darkstuff Productions will be showcasing a dark comic look at the wedding party, teasing out stories of secrets, lies and bad buffets. The show will take place on the ferry boat Matilda, with the cast welcoming the audience on board with a live wedding band from 7.30pm-9pm. Tickets £15.
THEATRICAL COMEDY – Matt Brierley returns to the Alma Tavern Theatre for the third time with his docu-comedy T-Rex: A Pack of Lies. Show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £5.
STRANGER THINGS – Strangest Things’ is an ’80s themed clubnight at the Thekla influenced by the Netflix TV series, Stranger Things. Expect to hear all of the tracks from the show by The Clash, Toto, Joy Division, Foreigner, Modern English, Corey Hart, The Bangles, Jefferson Airplane & more. 10pm. £5.
IMPROV THEATRE – The much praised improv-comedy murder mystery Murder she didn’t write will be showing at The Wardrobe Theatre at 8pm. Tickets £8.
MAKE YOUR OWN GIN – Weber & Tring’s on the Christmas Steps will be hosting this blending session with tasting samples and a chance to create your own handmade bottle of gin for you to take home. 7pm. £35.
