With the school holidays just around the corner, it’s time to start planning ways to entertain the kids. We often forget that Bristol is surrounded by beautiful towns which are just a short train ride away with Great Western Railway.
Here are some of the best places to visit for day trips over the summer:

Pay a visit to Cheap Street, one of Frome’s prettiest streets. Bradford on Avon is a magical, historic town nestled on the hillside and banks of the picturesque River Avon; filled to the brim with places waiting to be explored. On the way, stop off at the Dundas Aqueduct at Freshford and enjoy a drink at The Inn at Freshford.

Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire. It can also be reached on Great West Way ® and is under 40 minutes from Bristol. The beautiful park in Trowbridge offers walks, play areas and sports facilities, and the town boasts delightful independent shops, well-known High Street outlets and a multitude of cafés, pubs and restaurants. There is also a weekly Wednesday market, with local stalls and traders.
