Video: A Little Deep Sleep
Anaesthetists at Bristol Children’s Hospital have teamed up with local animation company ForMed Films to create an educational six-minute short for young patients and their parents to prepare them for major operations.
A Little Deep Sleep sees a group of children talking viewers through the different stages of an operation, focusing on what its like to go under general anaesthetic and what can be expected in the periods before and after surgery.
The animated characters are voiced by real patients, nurses and doctors, in a similar style to a recent film by Bristol Ageing Better, and provide an enjoyable and factual insight into an experience that can be frightening and difficult to understand for many children.
is needed now More than ever
The stars of the animation will gather to celebrate the completed project at a launch party at the hospital on Tuesday, December 15, when they’ll have a chance see their characters come to life on the big screen for the first time.
The film was directed by BAFTA-winning creative director Emma Lazenby, who worked on the well-known Charlie and Lola series, and was funded by Bristol Children’s Hospital charity The Grand Appeal. Watch it below:
