Video shows amazing community spirit in Bristol
People from all walks of life came together for a celebration with a difference in Champion Square.
Bristol charity Feed The Homeless hosted a barbecue to mark the Muslim festival of Eid on June 9, and took the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of many at the same time.
While food sizzled on the giant barbecue, hairdressers from AKA gave free haircuts to more than 60 people who are homeless in the city.

There were also clean clothes and toiletries handed out to those who needed them, as well as cakes and desserts. Around 300 people turned out for the event overall.

Speaking on behalf of the board of trustees, the charity’s founder, Naseem Talukdar, thanked all of the businesses and organisations who supported the event, including AKA, Smartmove Removals Bristol, Three Brothers Burgers, Beauty Banks, Chutneys Takeaway and Brislington Women’s Institute.
He added: “Above all, thank you to all our dedicated volunteers who have always shown compassion and commitment towards the cause. We have spread love throughout Bristol and sent a really positive and diverse message to all.
“You are the heart and soul of this charity and every one of you inspire us in every way possible.”
