Who will be the next Brunel?
The team at the SS Great Britain are looking for someone to bring Brunel to life. The successful applicant will help visitors feel that the celebrated engineer is still at the helm of the ship, becoming the man himself for the summer.
While looking like Brunel is not part the job description, a willingness to learn all about him is.
“We’re looking for fresh talent to join our small but brilliant team of Brunel live interpreters,” said Kate Rambridge, head of interpretation at the SS Great Britain Trust.
is needed now More than ever
“Our first choice for this job will be somebody who can make Brunel and his achievements relatable to the diverse and changing community which is Bristol today.”

The next Brunel does not need to look like the man, but must be able to bring him to life for visitors
Brunel was voted the second greatest Briton of all time, after Winston Churchill and the SS Great Britain is one of the most important historic ships in the world. Applicants need some previous acting or costumed interpretation experience and need to apply by Monday, May 20.
Kate said: “Brunel was a great creative force and could be a role model for absolutely anyone who has ambition and ideas, no matter what their background, their gender or their level of ability.”
