Wing Fest – the world’s largest chicken wing festival – comes to Bristol
Wing Fest, the largest chicken wing festival in the world, is coming to Bristol.
After eight years in London, and two years in Manchester, Wing Fest, dubbed the ‘World’s largest chicken wing festival’, lands in Bristol for one weekend in 2021, September 11 – 12. Last year’s plans were scuppered by Covid restrictions, so this will be the first year the city has played host to the incredibly popular festival.
A whopping 70,000 wings will be served, with top tier wing slingers coming from all over the country to showcase their wings.
is needed now More than ever
Thousands of wing-lovers are expected to descend upon Bristol for a fun-filled weekend of tasting, munching, BBQ demos, live blues and reggae bands, axe throwing, fairground rides, bourbon masterclasses and more munching.
The greediest of wing eaters can take part in the event’s popular wing eating competitions, which take place on both days.
Richard, who founded the event in a pub car park in Hackney, London in 2014 says:
“The Lava Wing Challenge, this year hosted by Food Review Club and local legends Clifton Chili Club, causes carnage every year and is the hottest wing eating challenge in the UK”
Wing Fest, it may surprise you is not solely about wings, it’s also about the lifestyle around those who enjoy indulging in the tasty morsels. It’s a fun-filled event where you can come together and chill out, grab a drink, listen to live music and tuck into some really great soul food.
Combine that with the fact that there are many independent businesses there selling their goods and award-winning chicken wings and you really have got that festival feel.
James from Gurt Wings, who are local street food wing heroes said –
“When we first did Wing Fest in London in 2018 we won third Place Best Buffalo Wing Judges Choice and we had only been trading less than a year. We were one of the few wing traders outside of London so it felt really special, I think I had a tear or two. This year in London we won second place in both Best Buffalo Wing and Best Wild Wing and I still can’t quite believe it.”
“It’s also nice to have it so close to home as we tell all our customers about Wing Fest and what an amazing day it is and so many people in Bristol and the South West had never heard of it before. But now more and more people are talking about Wing Fest coming to Bristol and we’re proud to tell people our story of winning.”
Tickets are available now on the Wing Fest website.
Early bird tickets are priced at £17.50 and are valid for entry from 12 – 1 (stay all day). Standard tickets are priced at £20 and are valid for entry from 1pm. Children under 12 go free.
