Dazzling display for launch of Green Capital
Bristol has celebrated becoming European Green Capital with a daredevil high wire display high above Hotwells.
Created by Bristol-based Cirque Bijou, Bridging the Gap saw world-famous tight wire artist Jade Kindar-Martin cycling across a 120-metre-long high wire between the Create Centre and A Bond warehouse.
Beneath him Hollywood stunt woman Karine Mauffrey performed an aerial trapeze routine suspended beneath the bicycle, almost 30 metres above the ground.
is needed now More than ever
Thousands of spectators lined the roads and rivers nearest the Create Centre to get the best view of proceedings, with both buildings bathed in green light.
As Mauffrey was winched up to her position, trees and birds were projected onto the two warehouses before Kindar-Martin began his perilous journey and all eyes were trained skywards.
Bristol has become European Green Capital in its own inimitable style.
