Green Capital 2015: Pledge your support
‘Do 15 in 15‘ is a new campaign encouraging the whole of Bristol to pledge their support for the European Green Capital year and do something different in 2015 such as walking to the local shops instead of driving.
The launch of the campaign on Tuesday morning saw Green Capital ambassador 12-year-old Joe Underwood from Bishopston (who provided the voiceover in the film which launched Bristol’s year as the European Green Capital) pledge what he felt he could do to make the city greener, and the actions he will take as well as persuading others to do the same.
Joe said: “My three pledges so far are to shop locally, recycle more food waste, and walk more even when it’s raining. I want to convert my parents so that they become greener too.”
is needed now More than ever
Young Bristol had a team of young ambassadors (below) at the campaign launch showing their support. The charity created the ‘Pledge Tree’ which everyone was attaching their pledge tags to, describing what they’ll do differently this year to aid the campaign.
Do 15 in 15 is pushing for sustainability throughout the city, encouraging everyone to do their part no matter how big or small.
Bristol 2015 director Zoe Sear said: “In the video, Joe challenges us to show what’s possible when people come together to make Bristol a better place. That’s what Do 15 in 15 is all about.
“We’re asking the people of Bristol to do something different, share what they’ve done using the hashtag #do15, and encourage others to do the same.”
The launch of the Do 15 in 15 campaign – which hopes to attract 10,000 pledges by the end of the year – also featured music from Studio 7 artists, live scribing by Laurie Stansfield (below) and a food market.
