Young Bristol transform street in Henbury
On August 18 and 19 Young Bristol teamed up with some local residents to transform Machin Road in Henbury as part of the #Do15 programme, to coincide with the city’s year as the European Green Capital.
Residents of the area helped the Young Bristol team by getting involved in creating a street full of artwork. Pairs of eyes were chosen by residents in an attempt to help keep the streets clean.
is needed now More than ever
Becky Prior from Young Bristol commented: “Our Creative Outreach project has seen us working with the local communities and bringing events, artwork and much more to all parts of the city. We still have much more to come.”
Mayor George Ferguson commented: “The Young Bristol #Do15 project is the perfect example of how Bristol’s year as European Green Capital is about learning through fun. We’ve seen thousands of people play their part.”
There is still a bustling calendar of #Do15 creative activity that local people can get involved with, including:
· A Yarn-Bombing project in the city centre involving the Neptune statue. Donations of knitted squares will be greatly received and a powder paint celebration will mark the end of the project on the August 31.
· A drop-in bin graffiti session in Redland as part of Chandos Street Fayre on September 27. Students and locals of Redland will be decorating their bins together and learning to recycle.
· Permanent reading tents are being built in Filton Avenue Nursery and Children’s Centre on August 25 and 26.
