Mayor Election 2016 / News

Business owners join forces to back Ferguson

By Fiona Burgess  Thursday Apr 28, 2016

A group of 40 local businessmen and women have put their names to an open letter in support of the re-election of George Ferguson.

The group, which includes Aardman co-founder and chairman David Sproxton, former Bristol Rovers chairman Nick Higgs and Icon Films MD Laura Marshall, use the letter to outline the progress that Ferguson has made with the local economy.

“It is our view that a change of mayor at this point would be seriously detrimental to the future of our wonderful city of Bristol,” they add.

The letter follows the public backing of the current mayor by the chairman of Bristol Chamber of Commerce, John Savage, who is also a former Labour candidate for police commissioner.
