£13.2m film and TV studio opens in south Bristol
A new multi-million pound TV and film studio has opened in Hengrove.
Bottle Yard Studios has expanded to open the state-of-the art facility less than half a mile from the main Bottle Yard, named TBY2.
It sees the creation of three new stages, increasing the total number available from eight to 11; as well as creating more than 1000 jobs.
The first booking for the new facility is eight-part saga Rivals, based on the novel by Jilly Cooper, produced for Disney+ by Happy Prince and part of ITV Studios.
Bristol mayor Marvin Rees – a non-executive director at ITV-owned Plimsoll Productions – celebrated the opening, saying “our Hollywood in Hengrove, continues to go from strength-to-strength”.

The studio roof is covered a community-owned rooftop solar panel system
Around £12m of the total investment has come from the West of England Combined Authority.
Dan Norris, mayor of the West of England, says: “I’ve watched this expansion come alive, from a cold and empty space to the fully functioning facility we see today.”
He added: ”Now the improved Bottle Yard Studios with three brand-new stages means we can continue to build on these successes to create even more top-notch film and television and bring thousands of highly skilled jobs to our region.
“Today’s official opening sends a strong message nationally and internationally that our amazing West of England is open for business.”
The council-owned Bottle Yard Studios opened in 2010, with more than 70 productions made there since.
Programmes include The Outlaws, Showtrial, The Pursuit of Love and The Salisbury Poisonings.
