Eight more people appear in court charged over Bristol riot
‘Not guilty’ pleas were issued by seven of the eight people who appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Monday, charged in connection with unrest on March 21.
One of the defendants, Shaun Davies, 44, from Totterdown, pleaded guilty to riot and is due to be sentenced next month.
The eight who appeared in court on Monday were the latest to go in front of a judge charged in connection to the disturbances outside Bridewell Police Station following a peaceful ‘kill the bill’ protest on March 21.

Joseph Paxton, 29, from Montpelier, was also due to appear on Monday on a charge of riot but the case was adjourned until Wednesday.

The following all attended their first hearing in court in connection with the riot:
- Shaun Davies, 44, from Totterdown, pleaded guilty to riot and will be sentenced on September 9.
- Charly Pitman, 23, from Brislington, pleaded not guilty to riot and will face trial on April 26 2022.
- Francesca Horn, 24, from Montpelier, pleaded not guilty to riot and will face trial on April 25 2022.
- Richard Fox, 30, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to riot and will face trial on April 19 2022.
- Daniel Ellis, 25, from Hartcliffe, pleaded not guilty to charges of riot and arson and will face trial on May 3 2022.
- Carmen Fitchett, 22, from St Andrew’s, pleaded not guilty to riot and will face trial on July 4 2022.
- Matthew O’Neill, 30, from Patchway, pleaded not guilty to charges of riot and arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered and will face trial on April 11 2022.
- Indigo Bond, 20, from Fishponds, pleaded not guilty to riot and outraging public decency and will face trial on May 3 2022.
