20th annual Encounters Festival starts today

The Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival starts kicks off tonight with Will Self looking at some of his favourite films.

It’s the 20th anniversary of the festival this year, which as always will feature unmissable films, live performances and radical debates.

The Watershed, Arnolfini and new venue the Cube will play host to a total of 119 events throughout the six days of the festival.

One particular highlight is set to come on Friday with Cine-Seizure at the Arnolfini which will see five internationally renowned sound and multi-media visual artists including Benjamin Damage transforming  the venue into a five-hour immersive performance night of sound and image.
