38 Degrees Live in Bristol
Innovators and campaigners seeking to make a difference in Bristol will come together for an evening of talks focusing on community action.
With the General Election looming, the first 38 Degrees Live event, hosted in the City Hall Ballroom at 6.30pm on Wednesday, presents a timely opportunity for people to take part in lively discussion and hear inspiring stories of the city’s unsung heroes.
Attendees will hear from some ground-breaking individuals on the touring panel, including Sara Venn, director of Incredible Edible Bristol, Matt Dowse, director of homeless organisation Caring in Bristol and Nessie Reid, a sustainable food campaigner and artist from The Milking Parlour.

Trish Murray from 38 Degrees’ Campaigns By You project will also share the story of one of the UK’s biggest campaigning organisations and how it gives members of the public a platform to really make a difference.
Attendees will also take part in workshops on how Bristol’s community can control its own destiny, seeking inspiration from Peter Macfadyen, author of Flatpack Democracy which documents the story of how a dedicated group of people in Frome transformed their council into being entirely independently led.
Peter Barden, live event producer for 38 Degrees, said: “38 Degrees Live is a wonderful opportunity to bring Bristol’s finest together for an inspiring evening, exploring how we create real, positive change in the city and beyond.
“We are particularly looking forward to delving into how the local community can take control of its own destiny. Having this fantastic group of local change makers on board, along with participation from the people of Bristol, should see some interesting ideas being explored.”
Malaika Kegode will bring lively poetry performance throughout the evening.
Tickets for 38 Degrees Live in Bristol are now sold out online but there may be a limited number available on the door.
