Vitality returns to Bristol

By Thomas Katan  Monday Apr 16, 2018

Uplifting vibes and homegrown talent will be coming to the Malcolm X Centre for the return of Vitality.

Visitors to this alcohol-free, not-for-profit well being festival can expect live music, performance, community organisations, independents, sound systems, street food and more.

“It’s a celebration of life centred around food,” says Samora Yeboah from The High Breed, who will be playing this year.

“The key ingredient to living a clean and healthy life – Vitality is a child-friendly alcohol-free space where like-minded people can spread holistic and consciousness waves.”

Returning for its third year, the family-friendly celebration takes place on Saturday, April 21 from 2pm – 8pm.

This year’s musical line is a mix up of Root Reggae, Spoken Word, Hip Hop, Jungles D&B, African and World Grooves:

The line up includes AAA Badboy, Chartwell Dutiro, Urban World Collective presenting Lyrically Justified, Roots Inspired, Dub Revolution, Splitz P, Sadoo, Chloe Rose Laing, Kev the Poet and The High Breed.

There will also be workshops and activities, including African dance and drumming, smoothie-bikes, face painting, hula-hooping, Capoeira Roda and Bristol Playbus fun track.

The festival’s ethos centres around “a vibrant festival of well-being which brings together local Bristol sound systems, musicians, performers, community organisations and independent businesses and which serves 100 per cent plant-based, delicious and healthy Caribbean and world-cuisine street-food in an alcohol-free environment.”

Organisers say the aim is to provide crisp sounds, delicious and nourishing food and refreshment, and fun activities for children and adults alike.

Zaheer Mamon, the festival’s director and event manager added: “Following the beautiful vibes at our first two events, we have decided to step away from fund-raising and instead to deliver a non-profit event which is as accessible as we can make it to each and all.”
