Alex Lovell presents her first ITV West Country show
Alex Lovell has presented her first ITV West Country news bulletin with her former BBC Points West colleague Seb Choudhury.
Nineteen minutes into the first show on Tuesday evening, Lovell told viewers that her new job was “quite daunting… same and different”.
She added: “It’s been lovely to be here.”
is needed now More than ever
This brief introduction from the ITV studio in Arnos Vale was then followed by a video of Lovell and Choudhury visiting the Somerset village of Porlock.
“We have worked elsewhere before,” said Choudhury.
“Somewhere else,” added Lovell with a smile, with the pair clearly on strict instructions not to say that they were former colleagues at the BBC.
After being welcomed into Porlock by town crier Grant Dennis, the pair visited the historic Ship Inn, which dates back to at least the 15th century.

In a press release announcing her move to ITV, Lovell said: “Seb and I are great friends and hopefully that will come across on screen.
“It is a great privilege to bring the news that matters to people across the region, sharing the ups and downs of life and hopefully making our viewers feel heard.
“We want to celebrate this wonderful part of the world and hopefully have some fun doing so.
“What an absolute joy it’s been to join this team. It’s only been a few weeks but they’ve been so supportive as I learn new systems and ways of working.
“We’ve also done lots of pre-filming to introduce me to the viewers, especially those I’m yet to meet in Devon and Cornwall.
“I’ve been searching for sea-glass in Newquay, dog walking in Porlock and even training to collect Bristol’s waste – my idea not an elaborate initiation!”
