Anna Klonowski tipped for Bristol City Council top job
She has previously managed the finances of the Metropolitan Police Service and the London Borough of Hackney, and could soon be positioned into the top job at Bristol City Council.
The role of permanent chief executive looks likely to be filled by Anna Klonowski after she was recommended for the £160,000 a year post by mayor Marvin Rees on behalf of the formal selection panel.
Klonowski has worked for Bristol City Council since last year and currently holds the role of interim strategic director of resources, with responsibilities that include finance, IT and communications.
is needed now More than ever
In addition to working for the Metropolitan Police Service – the independent body monitoring the performance of the Met Police – she has managed several companies, including an independent consultancy firm tasked with compiling the report into Rochdale Council’s child sexual exploitation failings.
Rees (who as Bristol mayor earns £65,738 a year, the same salary as an MP) said: “Anna is a highly experienced leader, having held a range of senior roles across the public sector. I value her input greatly.
“I hope members of Full Council will agree that Anna is an appropriate choice to help steer the council through what are extremely challenging financial times.”
Klonowski added: “This new role would allow me to contribute further to the future of Bristol. I am privileged to work for such a fantastic city, and with our incredibly dedicated staff.
“We face some big challenges, but alongside our committed community partners we can tackle these issues and make Bristol a fairer, more resilient city.”
