Annual charity paddleboard competition returns to harbour
An annual competition is returning to Bristol’s harbour this June to raise money for access to safe water.
Teams will have the opportunity to race around the floating harbour in a knockout ‘cup’ style relay, in a bid to win the ‘Stand Up For Safe Water’ trophy.
Competitors are encouraged to wear themed fancy dress, and a prize for the best team costume is up for grabs.
is needed now More than ever
The event is organised by Frank Water, a Bristol-based global charity which works to ensure sustainable sources of safe water, better sanitation and good hygiene for those most in need.

The charity has projects as far away as India and Nepal.
Lizzie Archer, corporate partnerships manager at Frank Water said: “Unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene is still responsible for the deaths of around 1,000 children every day.
“It’s unbelievable that this is still happening. We can often feel far removed from this in the UK as we have easy access to safe drinking water, and to swim and do recreational activities.
“However, this is even more reason why we should do everything we can to help those in the most marginalised and remote communities.
“We are really excited to bring back Stand Up for Safe Water for the fourth time on Bristol’s Floating Harbour.
“It’s amazing to see so many people come together to support our charity and recognise how crucial our mission is.”

The race will comprise of heats of four laps of a 150m course, with each team member to complete one lap per race.
The competition will be hosted by SUP Bristol on the historic harbour.
SUP Bristol is a stand-up paddleboarding school based in the Underfall Boatyard, and each team that enters will receive a free team training session with SUP in advance of the event.
Teams are asked to raise £199 in sponsorship for the charity event, with previous teams having raised over £1000.
Stand Up For Safe Water will run on Friday, June 30 from 1pm to 6:30. You can apply here.
