Stolen baby tortoises returned safe and well
The two baby tortoises were found by a passer-by near Puxton Park this afternoon.
A spokesperson said: “Thankfully they are both alive and are currently being cared for by a Puxton ranger.”
Their enclosure was cut open with wire cutters and the babies were stolen on Sunday from the park.
is needed now More than ever
Staff said they feared for the survival of the six-month-old tortoises, called Teo and Taylor as they need 35 degree heat, a special diet of 70 per cent grass and 30 per cent weed, as well as vitamin supplements in order to survive.
Puxton had already stepped up security measures and added extra padlocks to protect the tortoises after one was stolen on Saturday, before it was returned on Sunday morning.
