Artist starts crowdfunder to help repair Roy Hackett mural
The artist behind the Seven Saints of St Paul’s project has started a crowdfunder campaign in order to restore a seriously damaged mural.
A blank wall now remains where the mural of Roy Hackett on Byron Street once was due to the collapse of rendering.
Artist Michelle Curtis hopes to raise £10,000 to repair the piece, which also paid tribute to the campaigners involved in the Bristol bus boycott of 1963.

Curtis said that all of her murals “were developed to inspire and educate everybody, about Bristol’s rich and diverse history. Unfortunately, now incomplete without Mr Hackett’s mural.”
She added: “The unfortunate damage to his mural is a great loss to the community and city. I hope that with your support to share this go fund me with your network and, any donations received we will be able to replace the mural of Mr Roy Hackett MBE.
“This isn’t just Black history; this is British history!”
