Recruitment drive at Avon & Somerset police
Avon & Somerset Police have launched a week-long recruitment programme in a bid to fill 138 new openings in the force.
Andy Marsh championed plans for a more diverse workforce when he became chief constable in February this year.
An investigation by Bristol24/7 showed just 2.8 percent of the force are from black or minority ethnic backgrounds.
Launching the recruitment drive on Monday at noon, Marsh said: “We value the rich, multi-cultural diversity of the cities, towns, villages and rural communities where we live and work and the people that make them”.
Police and crime commissioner Sue Montstevens added: “Policing is a challenging and rewarding job and it is vital that the service reflects the communities it serves.”
