Banksy coronavirus-themed art removed from London Underground
It has been revealed that Banksy’s latest artwork, painted on a Circle Line train carriage, was removed several days ago.
Transport for London (TfL) removed the artwork several days ago as it broke the no graffiti policy in place on the Underground.
A TfL spokesperson said “we appreciate the sentiment” but removed the work due to a “strict anti-graffiti policy”.

The spokesperson added: “We’d like to offer Banksy the chance to do a new version of his message for our customers in a suitable location.”
The street artist from Bristol has created a number of artworks during the coronavirus lockdown, and The Girl With The Pierced Eardrum has even had the new addition of a face mask.

The famed artist published a new video on his Instagram on Tuesday, July 14, captioning the post “if you don’t mask – you don’t get it”.
The video shows the artist donning safety gear, including a face mask, stepping onto a Circle line tube train and decorating a carriage with his work.

One piece depicts a rat sneezing, showing the spread of the coronavirus, and two others shows rats tangled in a mask holding hand sanitiser, both of which act as protection from the virus.
