Barton Hill stab victim ‘was pregnant’

A woman found in Barton Hill with fatal stab wounds was four months pregnant, it has been revealed.

Police found Amal Abdi, from Somalia, unconscious at a property in Morley Street on Sunday at about 7.30pm.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Police have obtained an extended warrant of detention to continue questioning him.

“Amal, who is Somalian, was four months pregnant and the post mortem has confirmed that she died from stab wounds,” a police statement said.
