Bedminster Lantern Parade seeks extra funding
Every year in December, thousands of people gather on the streets of Bedminster after having worked hard to create beautiful lanterns, all as part of the Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade. The streets glow with the warming light of everybody’s hard work, and every year the event proves bigger and better.

However, for the volunteer team that organises and runs the parade, it is not cheap. Every year the cost of the event goes up, and the team have to stay under budget their budget of £19,000. Usually, raising money through a mixture of grant applications and community fundraising has been sufficient, but this year the team has a shortfall of £3,800 and are crowdfunding the final part.
is needed now More than ever
Money raised will place artists into schools to help children make their designs, provide the materials needed for the lanterns, pay musicians, help arrange road closures and so much more. The team say that without the extra money, they fear the event may not go ahead in 2018, for the first time in eight years.
The Lantern Parade team have set up a funding page at www.fundsurfer.com/crowdfund/save-the-bedminster-winter-lantern-parade and will be accepting donations until Sunday July 15.
