Largest ‘love lock’ yet on Pero’s Bridge
Padlocks in all shapes and sizes have been affixed to Pero’s Bridge in recent years by loved-up couples wanting to create a permanent reminder of their union.
Now the biggest ‘love lock’ yet has appeared – not with the initials of a romantic pair but as a tribute to Bristol’s street art scene.
The giant padlock dwarfs the other normal-sized locks around it and also comes with a giant key and key chain on which is written ‘John D’oh’.
is needed now More than ever
‘True love lasts longer than street art’ is on one side of the lock, with ‘I love Bristol street art’ on the other side and a small Banksy rat drawn on the key chain.
The ‘love lock’ phenomenon is believed to have started in Paris, where in June this year the weight of the padlocks on the Pont Des Arts bridge were blamed for the collapse of part of the parapet.
Next year, Pero’s Bridge and its love locks will be shrouded in fog as part of the In Between Time festival.
