Bloodhound supersonic car project hits the brakes
Bristol really has given birth to the Bloodhound. 95 per cent of the car was designed in Bristol and all of the assembly took place in its Avonmouth warehouse.
With its original headquarters next to the SS Great Britain, it is a car and a project which aimed to cement the city’s heritage and reputation as an engineering power house.
But the project to drive a car at more than 1,000mph for the first time is now in serious jeopardy with the company behind the venture going into administration.
is needed now More than ever
The Bloodhound is virtually all built and has undergone its first series of tests, but it needs a £25m investment if it is to break the world land speed record.
Andrew Sheridan from FRP Advisory LLP’s Bristol office told BBC News: “We have a legal entity that has gone into administration because it hasn’t got any more cash.
“But there is a project there that is very much alive and on the cusp of delivering its goal, which is ground-breaking with leading technology.
“However, it does need circa £25m to get it over the line, and that now requires an investor, be that a wealthy individual or a corporate of some kind.”
