Bristol North West MP launches free app
Residents in Bristol North West now have a direct line of communication to their MP, thanks to the launch of a free app.
Darren Jones says it’s vital that he hears from as many constituents as possible and is piloting the app, Powered by You, to give people a convenient means of contacting him, and each other, with concerns and issues.
The Labour MP, who ousted Tory Charlotte Leslie from power in the May 2017 General Election, also plans to trial live polling via the app to gauge how constituents think he should vote on certain key matters in the House of Commons.
is needed now More than ever

Darren Jones says he wants to give constituents a quick and easy line of communication
“As my constituents’ voice in Parliament and their champion in Bristol, it’s vital that I hear from as many local residents as possible,” said Jones.
“Whilst my surgeries, coffee mornings and pub politics have proven popular, I’m conscious that lots of people lead busy lives and need a quick and easy way to tell me what they think. That’s why I’ve launched the Powered by You mobile app.
“Powered by You is a bit of an experiment. We’ve had hundreds of residents sign up within the first few days and we’re really excited to see how it’ll end up working.”
The Bristol North West MP has offered to open up his office and dedicate some staff time and resources to help get the right people to the table to answer local residents’ concerns.
In recognition of the fact that mobile apps won’t suit everyone, Powered by You will include a series of offline local meetings where residents can feed into the decision-making process in person.
The app is only available to residents who live in Bristol North West. This is checked as part of the sign up process, which can be done via www.poweredbyyou.org.uk.
