Bristol animal rescue charity launches anti-Valentine’s Day campaign
Staff at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre (ARC) have come up with a unique way to raise some vital cash this Valentine’s Day – with the help of cat poo.
Acknowledging that February 14 isn’t all hearts and flowers for everyone, the charity is inviting people to donate £5 to have the name of their ex – or anyone who has wronged them – written on the bottom of a litter tray.
“This year, we’re asking you to use your heart and turn that poo into pounds for vulnerable animals,” say ARC staff.
is needed now More than ever
They stress that the campaign is just a bit of fun and they will only put first names, initials or nicknames on the cat litter trays, not full names.
“Our cats will poo on your ex, your boss, or whoever else you think deserves a great big turd this Valentine’s Day. In return, your donation will be used to care for these adorable animals,” states the campaign.
Gina Jones, communications officer for ARC, explains: “We decided we’d use this opportunity to allow people to turn their not-so-nice experiences on Valentine’s Day into something positive and help to support animals in need.
“By donating to our appeal, your failed relationship could result in a happy ever after for an animal looking for a forever home.”
Gina adds: “The ultimate aim is to raise funds for the vital work we do with the 7,000 vulnerable animals we help, heal and home every year. If this is what gets people talking about animal welfare and supporting our cause, a bit of poo is a small price to pay.”
