With pots, pans and wooden spoons at the ready, people came to windows, balconies, front doors and gardens to join in the rousing round of applause and cheers for those key workers who are working hard on the frontline.
Bristol Harbourside was just one area of the city brought to life with loud claps and cheers.
“Tears were shed,” Tweeted journalist Neil Maggs from Easton.
The crew at Bedminster Fire Station joined in in style.
As did Bristol Harbour Master, with a sound of the horn for our key workers.
“What a beautiful noise,” that was, commented community development worker Steff Probert, after Hartcliffe residents turned out to clap for the NHS.

It was an emotional moment for many as they paid tribute to the heroism of every person working on the frontline during the outbreak.
One Bristol-based nurse shared her response in a post on Facebook, saying: “I felt so overwhelmed. I have never felt so valued or so proud! The hospital is always busy, and we are always faced with heartbreaking and inspiring tales of humanity.
“We don’t do it for the thanks. We don’t do it for money. We certainly never expect the clapping and whooping! However, you have no idea how much easier it makes it to get up in the morning and keep going. How it helps us pull together as a team and smile in adversity.”
