My Bristol Favourites: James Lucas
James Lucas is a co-founder and director of The Bristol Bike Project, a not-for-profit, social enterprise, based in Hamilton House, that recycles and relocates bicycles within the community.
He is also the founding editor of indie magazine Boneshaker.
Here are James’ top-five Bristol favourites:

The Bristol Bike Project is open to people from all walks of life
It has been quite an adventure being involved with this place from day one, especially when we were one of the very first tenants in Hamilton House, which has continued to be an amazing place for us to be.
I love the diversity of people that come in to the project and the fact that all sorts of people from all kinds of backgrounds are mixing and working together – truly the best way to build more resilient communities I think.
St Werburgh’s Farm Cafe

Bristol is saturated with cafes these days, but this is one of the originals and truly something a little different. A fabulous place that I never tire of visiting. And surrounded by all those beautiful allotments and Narrowways.
Leigh Woods
Leigh Woods lifts the spirit
Living in a busy city such as Bristol, I feel so lucky to have this on our doorstep. It feels full of vitality and spirit up there.
Leonard Lane

This quirky little colourful lane is so easy to miss and still contains one of the old medieval city walls – look carefully and you can see where the old cart wheels used to rub against it. Plus, Centrespace Gallery and the awesome Letterpress Collective are sited along here.

Underfall Yard
I love walking that stretch of waterfront past the cranes, the old industrial museum and down towards Underfall boatyard and looking up towards the suspension bridge and colourful houses in Clifton Wood.
